Colorado is becoming more and more known for the number of dispensaries that they currently have operating. The boost in the number of dispensaries is also boosting the real estate business in Boulder, Colorado. The Budtenders working in these establishments aren’t the only ones profiting, all the realtors and landlords who are selling/renting/leasing all these building are also making a profit.
While there are no official figures on how much space has been leased to medical marijuana-related businesses in Boulder County, some real estate experts estimate the industry absorbed about 200,000 to 250,000 square feet during the past two years.
A lot of that is warehouse space, where grow facilities range anywhere from a couple thousand square feet, up to 50,000 square feet. Retail dispensaries typically lease between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet.
Colorado seems to be on the fast track to ending prohibition, they are seeing the benefits of having these dispensaries open and running and the benefits of the revenue that they generate. They are also working on establishing laws the would go hand in hand with legal cannabis.
