Trouble in New York: Billy Wagner gets on teammates for avoiding the media

The struggling Mets had high expectations coming into the season. There was a lot of buzz about them just like there has been each of the last two seasons. The last two seasons were disappointing and so far this one has been as well.

Don’t ask Mets Closer Billy Wagner about it though.

Wednesday when the Mets lost to the Nationals again, reporters asked Wagner about it and he looked over at teammates lockers and replied:

“Someone tell me why the (expletive) you’re talking to the closer. I didn’t even play. They’re over there, not being interviewed. … I got it. They’re gone. (Expletive) shocker.”

Thats a good question, even though calling out teammates isn’t going to help the situation in New York. The Mets are starting to look like the Yankees, with an extreme payroll but no chemistry in the locker room. Money can’t buy wins.
