US Drug Czar Hypocritical on Medical Marijuana issues

If you haven’t heard, there’s been a lot of hooplah going on about the Obama administration changing Marijuana to a schedule I prohibited drug. This would put Marijuana right there with Coke & Heroin, which we all know is just ridiculous.  Tennessee congressman Steven Cohen sent a letter to US Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske asking the Obama administration to think about their decision. Hawaii News Daily reports:

“We should not deny the thousands of Americans who rely on the benefits that marijuana provides,” Cohen wrote. “There is no evidence that marijuana has the same addictive qualities or damaging consequences as cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine and should not be treated as such.”

In response to the letter, Drug Czar Kerlikowske responds, “We ardently support research into determining what components of the marijuana plant can be used as medicine.” Is that so Mr. Kerlikowske? So is that why two weeks ago the Washington Post reported on a case where they were considering seeing how medical marijuana could help combat veterans with nightmares, insomnia, anxiety & flashbacks & Drug Czar Kerlikowske decided it wasn’t a good idea? On one hand, we have the Drug Czar saying he “ardently supports” ANY and ALL research to see how marijuana can be used medically almost immediately after shutting down an experiment to test just that! More light needs to be shed on these political mishaps. Greenies take note!
