Washington Granted Permission To Fire Medical Marijuana Users For Medicating

On June 9, the Washington Supreme Court passed a ruling giving employers the legal permission to fire medical marijuana patients for marijuana use even if they are legally licensed and have a prescription. Not only are they banning the use on company grounds, but even private medication in a patients home could leave them unemployed. Again: in Washington you can be fired for taking medicine prescribed by a doctor.

To me this seems like a case of taking two steps forward but one step back. The potential of being fired from a job might be enough for some to deny themselves medicine that could greatly improve their quality of life. Marijuana will never become accepted into the average life if we keep attaching strings and these man made stigmas to its use.
