This week marks the 3rd annual Hemp History Week in the United States. America is the only industrialized country that does not allow the major production of hemp, the male sativa marijuana plant that produces little to no THC, but is extremely versatile as a resource. We can import it, buy it, sell it, make things out of it, but in America most farmers are not allowed to grow hemp.
The DEA even goes so far as to claim that “marijuana” and “hemp” are separate parts of the species of plant known as “cannabis”. This is all wrong, hemp is simply a male sativa dominant cannabis plant what has been allowed to flourish and develop a hardy stock. Cannabis, hemp, and marijuana are all the same thing! What Hemp History Week and it’s supporters are trying to do is return the nation to the tradition of utilizing natural resources like hemp to bring America back to it’s roots and out of the recession! It looks like these days, stoners aren’t the only ones looking to grow some cannabis.
