Check around the Internet and you’ll find plenty of people wondering about what else they could put in their bong besides water. Given that you don’t actually drink bong water – unless you have some kind of a problem – this really seems like kind of a silly question, but there are enough people that ask it that it’s worth answering.
Bongs are a type of water pipe. That alone should let you know exactly what’s intended to be put into the chamber at the base of the bong. The same applies to any other type of water pipe. These are designed to be used with water only. Before you get too excited about being creative and putting something else in your water pipe, you should consider what this could actually do.
Wine In A Bong
Wine is probably the most common substance that people think would go very well in their bong. Oftentimes, they claim that it flavors the marijuana pleasantly or, to be direct about it, they simply like the image of being such a decadent that they actually fill their bong with wine and then smoke marijuana through the wine. For people who are using marijuana for medicinal purposes, the entire point is to get the THC and other active ingredients in the marijuana into your body. Wine can cause a problem here.
THC is alcohol soluble. This means that, when you draw smoke through wine, you can effectively reduce the THC content of that smoke and defeat the whole purpose of smoking a bong in the first place. It might give you some cool points – at least in your own mind – but you’re really just wasting marijuana if you’re smoking it in a bong filled with wine.
Snow In A Bong
If you’re located up north and you get a lot of snow, it’s natural to try to figure out ways to use snow for something interesting, since you’re probably stuck with it for a good part of the year. Some people like to put snow in their bongs. There aren’t the same concerns as there are with wine, as snow is obviously just frozen water. There are some other concerns that you need to take into consideration, however.
First, the snow’s going to be very cold when you put it in the bong, which may actually compromise the glass on the bong. Second, it can be very difficult to draw a hit through snow. It may seem like a clever thing to do and some people believe that the snow causes the smoke to contract and, upon hitting your lungs, the smoke expands from the warmth, allowing you to take in a bigger hit. If you are smoking dispensary marijuana, you absolutely do not need to stuff the biggest hit possible in your lungs. It is plenty potent already and overfilling your lungs is not good for you and doesn’t get you any stronger of a buzz.
Stick with water in your bong. Stick with water in your bong for the same reason you stick with gasoline in the tank on your car. That’s what supposed to go in there and it’s the only thing that’s suitable for the purpose.
