NOW LET’S COMPARE THE BOXES…
BEST PRODUCTS – BUDDHA BOX
In order to compare the products that came in each of these cannabis care packages, I had to look at what each service promised to give me (in terms of the number of items), if it was stuff I actually like or need, and if the customization options they provided actually accurately modified the contents I received in MY boxes.
Cannabox claims that they will give you 5 to 8 items each and every month, and they actually did top me off with 8 different items (if you count the freebies – stickers), so no complaints there. Buddha Box claims they will give you 4 to 7 items each and every month, and they gave me WAY over 7 items, without even counting the freebies! I got 8 items on top of the 5 stickers, so I’m not complaining one bit. And 420 Goody Box claims they will give you 5 to 8 items each and every month, and they outdid themselves as well! They hooked me up with 9 different items and a cool sticker as well, so bravo to you guys. It looks like the Buddha Box is crammed full of more goodies overall than the other two.
But did I actually like the stuff I got? Well, since the 420 Goody Box doesn’t let you customize what you’ll receive, I won’t factor this into the comparison ranking, but oddly enough the items in the 420 Goody Box were more closely related to the type of smoker I actually am! Because even though I made sure to fill out the Cannabox survey, to customize what I receive, I ended up with papers and blunt wraps even though I purposefully did NOT select those options in the survey. In fact, if you look at the #cannabox tag on Instagram, every single one of the May boxes look exactly the same, so why did you survey us for our preferences? And Buddha Box didn’t do much better, because I ended up with a tin for joints, a filter tip for joints, two packs of papers, and some blunt wraps, yet I did NOT select those options during the customization survey. Which sucks, because I initially ranked them so high because of how many options they gave you, but at least there were many variations to the items people received in May, if you look at what others received in their Buddha Boxes.
Given those facts, I’m only happy with and planning to keep 1 item out of the 8 Cannabox sent me… one of the stickers! If they had stuck with my preferences I’m sure I would have kept more, but it looks like I’m only 13% happy with my Cannabox. The Buddha Box made me a bit happier, because I am keeping 8 out of the 13 items they sent me, which means I’m 62% happy with my Buddha Box! Sure, most of the items are stickers, but I would have kept the Hemplight and HempWick as well, if I didn’t already have one and wasn’t already stocked up on wick. And I’m keeping 5 out of the 10 items that 420 Goody Box sent me, so I’m 50% happy with their service. (SIDE NOTE: 420 Goody Box sent me a replacement bong, since the female piece was cracked in the one I received (which I had planned on keeping), so I’m keeping the cracked one and giving away the good one in the Wookwok Box! – details below)
So, in terms of how many products and the types of products you receive, Buddha Box came out on top, followed by 420 Goody Box, and then the Cannabox.
BEST DEAL – 420 GOODY BOX
Now let’s take a look at which care package is actually the best deal, based on a comparison between what you have to pay for one of these boxes and what the items are actually worth. And in order for me to price all of these items, I just looked around online and based the price on the first place I found the exact item for sale. So, if I couldn’t find an item for sale (like a sticker), I just assumed they were usually freebies added into orders, and shouldn’t have a price tag put on them.
Now, even though new members have easy access to a discount coupon (just wait for the pop-over on their site), the Cannabox actually was a decent deal. If you had went out and bought all of the items yourself, it would have cost you around $38.43, so they gave you about 42% off, but that’s only with the new member discount (it would have been about 35% off otherwise). And the Buddha Box wasn’t that bad of a deal either, because the overall value of the box was around $54.43, so they gave you about 41% off. But the big dog this time around was the 420 Goody Box, because the overall value of the box was about $78.34, yet they gave you about 65% off! That glass bong was pretty pricey, and I could only find it at one place online, but they seem to offer some expensive items!
So, in terms of the best deal you’ll get by using their service, 420 Goody Box came out on top, followed by Cannabox, and then the Buddha Box.
BEST SHIPPING – CANNABOX
But since the contents of each box are a surprise, and you have to wait a month to receive each box, the shipping should be factored in as well, don’t you think? So, let’s take a look at which services shipped out their boxes on time, who provides you with a tracking number, how quickly it arrives, how discreet they are, and the condition of the box and the contents of the box as well, when they arrived.
The Cannabox is actually supposed to ship on the 20th each month, but by the 17th they had already let me know things were in motion, and the boxed shipped on the 19th! The Buddha Box is supposed to ship out on the 14th of every month and, while they didn’t notify me that it had shipped, I found out that it had shipped on the 14th, just as planned. And the 420 Goody Box is set to ship out on the 20th of each month, which is the exact date it shipped out. Great job on all accounts!
Cannabox had emailed me my tracking number 3 days in advance, I had to ask Buddha Box to send me one, and 420 Goody Box sent me a tracking number the same day it shipped. So, the only one slacking in the communication department here was the Buddha Box.
The Cannabox shipped through the Post Office, from Arizona, and arrived in just one day, which is awesome! And, even though there was no outer box to protect the actual Cannabox, it arrived in perfect condition from CB, so it was really discreet, but there was no protective packaging inside. The Buddha Box shipped through FedEx, from Illinois, and took 6 days to arrive. And while I can’t really dock them points for living farther from me, the box arrived looking like someone had dropped an elbow on it, with a hole through the top and a broken seal. Now, luckily the outer box wasn’t the Buddha Box itself, and the packing peanuts they used kept everything from getting damaged. Plus, there was no mention of the Buddha Box on the outside, so it was pretty discreet as well. And the 420 Goody Box shipped through the Post Office, from California, in just 2 days, but this box also had a minor hole poked into, but not through, the box, along with some creases. This box also had “Goody Box” printed all over it, which isn’t that big of a deal since the “420s” were kept inside, but there was no outer box to protect the actual 420 Goody Box, and the only protective packaging was some bubble wrap around the bong and some tissue paper.
So, it looks like Cannabox is the best at shipping their products, and letting you know in advance, followed by 420 Goody Box, and then right behind that is the Buddha Box.
EASIEST TO CANCEL – BUDDHA BOX
But since all of these surprise cannabis care packages are subscription services, we’re probably going to want to look at which service is the easiest to cancel. I’m sure all of us want to avoid the hassle of cutting off a service that we no longer need, so let’s see which care package service was the easiest to part ways with.
Now, to cancel your Cannabox subscription, you have to email them to cancel your account… So, I emailed them through the form on their site on Wednesday, got an automated response, waited until Saturday and replied to the automated response, only to have them immediately reply with a cancellation confirmation. So, either they just forgot to tell me, or the email form on their site isn’t really working. But all it takes to cancel your Buddha Box subscription is a single click of an “unsubscribe” link, in your account, so that was nice. And while 420 Goody Box makes you email them to cancel your subscription as well, they confirmed my cancellation within 12 hours, so no real complaints there either.
So, it looks like, when it comes to breaking the bonds of your subscription, Buddha Box is the easiest, followed by 420 Goody Box, and then the Cannabox.
FINAL OVERALL BEST – 420 GOODY BOX
And while they did take quite a while to send me the correct replacement for the glass bong, it appears that through my research the 420 Goody Box is your best bet, if you can only afford one of these cannabis care packages. They provide you with some awesome products, at a great price, and they get it shipped to you pretty quickly, in a safe manner, even if their box isn’t super discreet.
Oddly enough, the Buddha Box is now said to include 6 to 8 items (opposed to the 4 to 7 listed when I did my initial review), and they now give out 10% off promo codes to new members on their Facebook page, so maybe comparisons like these really do help out the customer in the long run! But do you see why it pays to NOT judge a book by it’s cover… or a box by its website? If you would have went by my initial review, you’d all be signing up for a Cannabox subscription right now (which came in dead last), and we can’t be having that. This proves that it’s what’s inside that counts, but…
